BARCODE VERIFIERS provide assurance that the barcodes printed will be scannable at their destination, or through the distribution channel.  Some retail customers have implemented significant monetary fines for unreadable barcodes. Barcode verifiers are either pen type or laser based, and are manufactured by Hand Held Products (HHP).



BARCODE SCANNERS provide dramatically improved speed and accuracy in data input operations. An operator keying in data will make a mistake every 200 entries on average; whereas an operator with a barcode scanner will make a mistake every 1,000,000+ scans.  BARCODE SCANNERS can be handheld or fixed, connect to a wide variety of terminal or computer models.  These scanners, depending upon model, can scan one dimensional barcodes or two dimensional codes like the ones at the top of this page.

Scanners are typically integrated into computer applications via the keyboard.  This allows barcode scanning to be added to any application; the computer sees the barcode data just as if it were keyboard input, just a lot faster and a lot more accurately. Scanners connecting to a desktop or a laptop can use either a USB or a PS/2 style keyboard port.
